SUMMARY

The City of Chicopee’s Department of Public Works – Recreation Division is hiring a Ranger who has the primary responsibility of supervising park picnic facilities on weekends and weekdays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE

• Works days, weekends, and holidays to monitor the Szot Park picnic area and help to observe other park facilities such as the pool, playground area, ball fields, basketball, tennis courts.
• Ensures that the park rules and regulations are adhered to at the park.
• Checks for picnic permits, issues permits, and collects appropriate picnic fees.
• Performs light maintenance duties at Szot Park picnic area-some raking, painting, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping parking lot and pavilion, general litter pick up, etc.
• Informs people on the use of the park badge system for using pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, and other park facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma/ G.E.D.
• Some experience working with the public.
• Must be able to express oneself verbally. Knowledge of parks and recreation operations helpful.

This role is classified as Group 4, Section II, f. of the City of Chicopee’s Chapter 7 Ordinance paying $15.00 per hour.
