Gymnastics Coach

JOB TITLE: Gymnastics Coach

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Part Time

DEPARTMENT: CRE/Recreation

SUPERVISOR: Recreation Specialist - Gymnastics

This position will assist children in the Citys Gymnastics Program, ages 2-18. The position will lead classes, create routines, and perform a variety of duties, unique to gymnastics. Applicant should be creative, artistic, and energetic, as well as have some background in dance, gymnastics, tumbling, and/or cheerleading.

• Program coordination
• Teaching of a variety of gymnastics moves
• Routine creation
• Class leading
• Excellent customer service
• Lesson planning

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

• Gymnastics movements and terminology
• Coaching practices
• Child development

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Work personably with the public and other professionals in times of conflict or crisis
• Adapt to change and problem solve

Qualifications

Required:

High school student - must be 16 at the time of application.

Preferred:

Previous work experience working with children.

Other:

Experience in gymnastics, dance, tumbling and/or cheerleading.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

Working Environment:

Both indoor and outdoor environments; irregular working hours, including; nights and weekends.
