City of Chelsea is Hiring a Law Clerk Near Chelsea, MA

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the City Solicitor, the Law Clerk provides confidential, clerical and administrative support for the Solicitor’s Office, with a focus on the delivery of exceptional services to the community and City departments. The Law Clerk is responsible for supporting the City Solicitor’s collective bargaining efforts and employment disciplinary matters. Responsible for assisting in the organization and maintenance of office records etc. Performs highly responsible administrative and clerical functions. Perform customer service in person and by phone. Answer phones, collect, distribute and process incoming and outgoing mail. Other duties as assigned by the City Solicitor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education

High School diploma or equivalent with course work in office/business practices.

Experience

Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of related administrative office experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Ability to work in strict confidence; deal effectively, tactfully, firmly, and appropriately with the public. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to process and maintain accurate records; work effectively and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a motivated, organized individual, who can effectively manage workload, and who possesses strong computer and typing skills. Skilled in using automated systems, Google Docs and the Microsoft Office suite products, including Word and Excel. Computer operation, automated data processing and software skills. Ability to perform job duties independently, with accuracy and attention to detail; and the ability to follow direction. Creative thinking, writing, listening, problem solving and investigative skills. Chelsea residency preferred.
