Salary : $37,440.00 - $40,060.80 Annually Location : Charleston, SC Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202100033 Department: Parks Division: Grounds Maintenance Opening Date: 12/18/2023 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Summary $500 BONUS $250 ON FIRST CHECK AND $250 AFTER 120-DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT We are looking for a Groundskeeper to join the City of Charleston's Parks Department! In this role, you will assist in the maintenance of public parks, property, and rights-of-way using a variety of machines, tools and equipment. Examples of Duties
Works on a crew under general supervision.
Cuts lawns.
Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
Rakes and bags or burns leaves.
Cleans grounds and removes litter.
Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
Makes minor on-site repairs to equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and weed trimming equipment.
Receives instruction and training in proper safety precautions
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Six months related experience
Valid state issued driver's license
