The City of Casa Grande Community Service Department if currently recruiting for the following positions: Cashiers, Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, Pool Manager. Rate of pay will be based on related experience, education and certifications.
The Palm Island Aquatic Center is open mid-May to mid-September including the Fourth of July holiday and staff is expected to work the entire season the pool is open.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
CASHIER- Pay Range $14.35
Must be able to work from May to September
Up to 33 hours per week.
This is a guest services position, responsible for providing outstanding guest service by maintaining a positive attitude, being friendly, energetic and outgoing. Guest Services team members greet guests, maintain park cleanliness, sell admission tickets, food or specialty concessions and provide information to guests regarding the operations of the City's aquatic facilities.
Essential Job Functions:
Sell admission tickets and concessions to patrons.
Handle money and make change as needed.
Prepare food orders, help set up and store food items as needed.
Operate a cash register when applicable.
Answer telephones and provide information.
Clean and sanitize equipment within the work station.
Complete daily reconciliation reports.
Complete daily attendance reports
Inventory and stocking supplies for the facility
Sweep, clean and pick up as needed.
Provide outstanding guest service.
Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Management Team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of daily and emergency facility procedures and policies learned during training
Knowledge of the daily operation and programs of aquatic facilities learned during training
Experience involving customer service, handling cash, inventory control and operating a cash register
Desired Qualification
Currently possess or have the ability to complete Starfish Swim Instructor Certification (SSI).
LIFEGUARD (I, II, III) – Pay rate $15.05 - $16.25 Rates of pay will be based on related experience, education and certifications LIFEGUARD I
Must be able to work from May to September
Up to 35 hours per week

Observe and Monitor patrons in the water and on surrounding deck areas.
Check pool and surrounding areas for hazards and potential problems.
Implement departmental emergency procedures.
Provide water safety and training, assist patrons in distress.
Ensure cleanliness and order of aquatic facility.
Administer First Aid and CPR as needed.
Assist with programs and classes as needed.
Provide outstanding guest service.
Wear sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Management Team.
Ability two swim 500 yards without stopping
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed Before Hire:
Knowledge of water safety and rescue procedures
Ability to swim well
Ability to administer First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Training is available through the City of Casa Grande Parks and Recreation. Minimum Qualifications
Completed one year of high School; and
Ability to work the entire summer aquatics season
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to think on your feet
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to perform physical activity as required
Ability to successfully complete Starguard Lifeguard certification course
If applying to be Swim Instructor, the ability to complete the Starfish Swim Instructor Course.
Ability to swim 500 yards without stopping
Ability to tread water for 2 minutes without the use of hands.
Desirable Requirements
At least 15 years of age at the time of hiring.
Knowledge of aquatic programs and pool operation
Currently possess or have the ability to complete StarGuard and or Starfish Swim Instructor Certification.
LIFEGUARD II
Must be able to work from May to September
Up to 35 hours per week
Ideal candidates for this position will be motivated, possess the ability to work in and lead a team full of fun and energetic members, have good communication skills, enjoy a challenging work setting, enjoy working with children and adults in an aquatics lesson setting and have at least one year of aquatic experience.

Swim Lessons are taught 3 days per week (Mon, Tue, and Thurs) in both the morning and evening. Bi-weekly in-service will be on Mondays. There will be four, two week session for swim lessons.
Up to 28 hour per week
Ideal candidates for this position enjoy working with an aquatics team, enjoy the challenged of teaching students ranging from preschool to adult in an aquatics setting, and have a passion for teaching water safety.

Perform daily teaching of classes.
Correctly store and maintain all program supplies.

Essential Job Functions:
Supervise, schedule, evaluate and assist in training of Casa Grande Swim Program instructors and coaches.
Ensure cleanliness of pool and surrounding grounds.
Provide exemplary customer service to students, parents/guardians, pool patrons.
Provide supervision of Swim Program staff.
Responsible for keeping student records.
Assign all registered students to a class.
Conduct in-service training as needed.
Wear sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher and encourage staff to do the same.
Mentor aquatics instructional staff.

POOL MANAGER - Pay Rate $17.50
Must be able to work from May to September
Up to 40 hour per week during the Season May 1-Labor Day.
Responsible for supervising lifeguards and guest services staff, as well as run the daily operations of Palm Island Family Aquatic Facility. The management team is full of fun, energetic and hardworking people, who can successfully supervise and train staff members in multiple areas.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide outstanding guest service at a Palm Island Family Aquatic Facility.
Supervise staff, which includes hiring and evaluating aquatic staff to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained.
Creating the weekly staff schedule.
Perform duties of Lifeguard, Swim Instructors and Assistant Managers as needed.
Perform daily operations and maintenance of facility to ensure high productivity and efficient operations.
Enforce rules and policies to ensure safe conditions and operation of facility.
Monitor and maintains water chemistry.
Assist Aquatics Coordinator in maintaining reports.
Respond and react to emergency situations following Emergency Action Plan
Inform Aquatics Coordinator of inventory needs for the facility.
Maintain open lines of communication with necessary parties to ensure quality daily operations.
