Technical work in the enforcement activities of the City’s housing, zoning, and environmental codes and other related City codes. This position will primarily focus on managing the vacant building registry, regularly inspecting vacant properties to ensure that they are in compliance, and working closely with the City Attorney to enforce regulations. The work involves extensive interaction with co-workers and the public by telephone, written communication and in person. The Vacant Housing Inspector is supervised and is evaluated by the Neighborhood Inspector Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be someone who is committed to making Carbondale’s neighborhoods safer for all residents.
