SUMMARY - Responsible for the direction, control and efficient, effective operation of the City’s information resources, including support and administration of the City’s desktop computers and applications; network and server infrastructure; backend services and database systems; Inter- and intranet websites; and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Install, configure, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption. Ensures network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Administers network security measures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES. This job has no supervisory responsibilities; however, will oversee use of City facilities to ensure compliance with policies and rules of conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE. Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher education and/or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write clear and accurate reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Calculator and cash register experience desired.
REASONING ABILITY. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
