The Automotive and Equipment Technician is responsible for providing maintenance and repair services to the city's diverse fleet of equipment and vehicles. 
Work may be performed on a fleet consisting of approximately 250 assets of various types such as: medium to heavy duty trucks, dump trucks, semi tractors, trailers, landscape equipment, road maintenance/repair equipment (including track driven equipment), road demolition equipment, snow removal equipment, storm, sewer & sanitary repair/cleaning equipment, street signal installation/repair equipment, pursuit rated law enforcement vehicles, motorcycles, undercover and special operations vehicles, passenger cars and light trucks, fire trucks, ambulances and more.

Automotive and Equipment Technician I - Hiring Rate: Tech I Up to $52,515.39, D.O.E., Max - $63,018.47 
Performs duties that allow other technicians to maximize work output of the shop. Train to meet requirements of Automotive and Equipment Technician II. This position also receives technical supervision and guidance from level two and three Technicians. Must personally own tools required to perform job duties.
Automotive and Equipment Technician II - Hiring Rate: Tech II Up to $57,898.22, D.O.E., Max - $69,477.87
Perform technical and labor duties required to troubleshoot and repair vehicles and equipment, both in the shop and in the field. Perform scheduled and routine maintenance in accordance with established policies. Train to meet requirements of Automotive and Equipment Technician III. Must personally own tools required to perform job duties.
Automotive and Equipment Technician III - Hiring Rate: Tech III Up to $60,793.13, D.O.E., Max - $72,951.76 
Perform technical and labor duties required to troubleshoot and repair vehicles and equipment, both in the shop and in the field. Perform scheduled and routine maintenance in accordance with established policies. Train to meet requirements of Automotive and Equipment Technician IV. Must personally own tools required to perform job duties.
Automotive and Equipment Technician IV - Hiring Rate: Tech III Up to $67,024.43, D.O.E., Max - $80,429.32Perform technical and labor duties required to troubleshoot and repair vehicles and equipment, both in the shop and in the field. Perform scheduled and routine maintenance in accordance with established policies. Must personally own tools required to perform job duties.
