Job Summary
Mans an entrance booth/gate at Lake Bryan Park, meeting and greeting guests as they enter the park, accepting admission fees, responding to park questions, taking reservations, and providing general customer service.
Essential Job Functions
  • Greets all guests as they enter the park.
  • Collects park admission fees, requiring the operation of a cash register, adding machine, credit card machine, and/or other related equipment. Balances drawer and manages daily income during shift.
  • Takes reservations either in person or over the phone.
  • Communicates and provides park information in person or by phone in a tactful, polite, and friendly manner.
  • Maintains a clean and neat work area.
  • Alerts management about suspicious acting individuals, intoxicated individuals, children with no supervision, and other safety concerns.
  • May be asked to assist in the maintenance of and upkeep of the park including but not limited to, picking up trash, restocking and cleaning restrooms, mowing, weeding and landscaping, painting, and other related duties.
  • Responds quickly to all emergency situations as needed.
  • Reports for duty at the times specified and ensure that a high standard of personal presentation and appearance is maintained at all times.
  • Observes and advises about all rules and regulations of the facility.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma/GED and/or experience dealing with the public or managing a cash drawer is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to:
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, in person and by phone.
  • Conduct monetary transactions in a variety of forms (cash and credit), make change, and reconcile daily revenue transactions.
  • Operate a computer and learn any job-related software and equipment.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the public in a respectful manner.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Abide by City and department administrative directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Work effectively as an individual and as a team member.
  • Be aware of any workplace hazards and report any concerns per policy.
  • Provide management with sound, positive advice, and information concerning the incumbent’s area of responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and communicate effectively with the public and other required entities.
Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm in sometimes stressful situations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus, but not required.

Physical Demands
Physical demands include but are not limited to: sitting, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, bending, using hands and fingers to operate job-related equipment, and occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to and including 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a temperature-controlled booth as well as in an outdoor field environment. While working outdoors, employee will at times be exposed to inclement weather, extremes temperatures and various depths of water. Tasks may require exposure to strong and/or toxic chemicals, dust and/or pollen. Work setting is monitored by video.
Equipment
Work shall be performed with tools, appliances, and equipment approved by those agencies and bodies that have control, authority, or approval of the design working ranges or limitations of those items; the employee has the responsibility to conform to those ranges and limitations.
Equipment may include but is not limited to: phone, cash register, computer, calculator, safe, mower, weedeater, and various other maintenance type equipment.
