City of Brenham, TX is Hiring a Finance Intern Near Brenham, TX

Summary

Works under the general direction of the Accounting Manager providing assistance with special projects and routine finance and accounting type duties involving the City's financial system and related financial analysis.

Temporary Internship position - $12.00 per hours - 24 hours per week or less for a total of 12 weeks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes historical financial and related information.
  • Assists with analyzing, collecting, and reporting financial information and data.
  • Assists with building spreadsheets and input for tracking, balancing, and verifying accounting data.
  • Contributes in the annual budget and capital improvement process.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgement when dealing with confidential information.
  • Supports in the retention of historical records.
  • Prepares various reports at the request of the Accounting Manager.
  • May perform other assignments and handle special projects, as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Non-supervisory position.

Education and/or Experience

The ideal candidate must be enrolled in an accredited university. Preference will be given to individuals pursuing a degree in Accounting.

Knowledge Of

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements and standards; management principles; budgeting principles and procedures; automated payroll systems; computers; and standard office practices and procedures.

Skill/Ability To

Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; proficient in oral and written communication; conducting research and preparing reports with correspondence; ability to exercise discretion and judgment when dealing with confidential information; provide exceptional customer services in person, by phone, and by email; and standard office practices and procedures.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver's license.
