This Community Services Department is seeking to fill several Recreation Leader positions for their summer programming. Weekly schedule assignments may vary based on operational need.
This recruitment will be accepting applications for multiple vacancies, and will remain open on a continuous basis until the needs of the department are met. This recruitment may close at any time. All part-time, temporary, and seasonal workers are at-will employees.

What We Do:
The Community Services Department provides exceptional recreational, educational, cultural, and social services to the community to enhance and maintain a high quality of life in Beverly Hills. The Department is comprised of three key areas: Recreation and Parks, Library and Human Services. The Recreation and Parks Division is responsible for providing recreation and enrichment programs for all ages, parks and community center programming and management, and community events, sports and aquatics activities. The Division also manages the Joint Powers Agreement with the Beverly Hills Unified School District and operates the historic Greystone Mansion and Estate. The Division maintains diverse and innovative recreation and cultural programming and services for the community.
Job Summary: To plan and conduct recreation activities; to set-up and take-down rooms and equipment as needed for recreation activities; to perform clerical tasks in support of recreation programs; and to provide technical support to an assigned supervisor. This is the journey level in the single-level part-time Recreation Leader class. Incumbents may be assigned to develop and lead recreation activities, supervise or monitor program participants, and provide facility oversight. The Recreation Leader class family includes part-time Recreation Leader and Recreation Aide. Work in this class is distinguished from that of a Recreation Aide by the addition of lead responsibilities and greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to work. Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor.

Conviction History
As a finalist for a job, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction (or arrest, in limited circumstances) conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you are a finalist. Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with the City. If you are selected as a finalist, you will be contacted to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.

Disaster Service Workers: All City of Beverly Hills employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
