City Of Bemidji is Hiring an Outreach Coordinator Near Bemidji, MN

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, the Outreach Coordinator facilitates the outreach and communication with residents and organizations for planning of events, programs and volunteer activity.

  • Supervision Received
    • Works under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director.
  • Supervision Exercised
    • May provide limited work direction, responds to/answers questions to/from other Parks and Recreation department staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in strengthening, enhancing and/or developing improved or new relationships with the community.
  • Engage with residents, schools, community organizations and other stakeholders by participating in meetings and community events.
  • Inform the community about ways to volunteer, partner and/or participate in recreation programming and services.
  • Coordinate the work of volunteers.
  • Assist with administration of special events or tournaments and communicate with involved parties.
  • Identify resources, services, and other materials to facilitate recreation programming and activities.
  • Assist with marketing and social media campaigns.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure quality programs.
  • Assist in the development of reports and other materials related to programs and service offerings.
  • Perform related tasks as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Previous experience with establishing and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, groups, organizations and/or government agencies to implement and/or promote activities, programs or events.
    • College credit in communications, public relations, Recreation, or a related field is desirable.
  • Necessary Knowledge Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Computer skills including word processing, graphics applications, email, and Internet.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Ability to work evenings weekends and holidays.
  • Special Requirements
    • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
    • Must possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
