Recreation is looking for camp staff for the 2024 summer season! 
  • May through August
  • Monday to Friday
  • Daytime and early Evening hours
Referral Incentive – A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee willreceive $50 bonus on their final paycheck. Referral paperwork required within one week of employees start date and both employees must be employed for the entirety of the scheduled season to be eligible.
Commitment Incentive A seasonal employee who works all sessions of camp will receive $50 bonus.
The Day Camp/Playground Leader will be responsible for the fun and safe delivery of the Day Camp/Playground program to all participants. 
  • Supervision Received
    • Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.

  • Be a positive role model for campers.
  • Responsible for the safety of campers and providing constant supervision; including keeping children hydrated and sun-screened when outdoors.
  • Organize, prep, and lead activities (games, crafts, etc.) on a daily.
  • Communicate effectively between peers, supervisors, parents, children, special guests.
  • Enforce behavior management techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area and report any maintenance issues immediately to the Assistant Day Camp Coordinator or Recreation Coordinator.
  • Interact with campers during scheduled activities including lunch and water play.
  • Supervise children during swim activities; this includes swimming with them and keeping children safe and engaged in the swim activities.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures to report all problems, concerns, criticisms, and compliments to the Assistant Day Camp Coordinator or Recreation Coordinator
  • Day Camp Leaders should have the ability to maintain energy, excitement, and attention to all campers throughout the day!
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Recreation Coordinator or the Parks and Recreation Director.
  • Education and Experience
    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
    • Previous experience working with school-age children in such areas as camps, day care, scouts, sports, and/or babysitting. 
  • Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Familiarity with Parks and Recreation Programs desirable.
    • The ability to adequately lead activities, observe and enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
    • Must be able to swim. 
  • Special Requirement 
    • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
    • Must possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
    • Lifeguard certification preferred (or ability to obtain one prior to camp season).
  • Tools & Equipment Used
    • Required sports and safety equipment.
    • Experience working with computers and/or mobile devices.
