The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity available in the Planning and Building Services Division of the Community Development Department. Beloit seeks a Planner I or II which is responsible for professional work in the field of urban and community planning.
The work performed by a Planner I or II involves collection and analysis of a wide range of community development, transportation and urban planning information to make recommendations regarding planning strategies, processes, policies and ordinances. This position assists with a variety of planning projects in the Community Development Department and requires considerable independent judgement, initiative and responsibility.
The individual hired may be hired as a Planner I or Planner II depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate.  
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Planner I

1. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
2. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Studies, Geography or similar field of study.
3. Professional urban planning experience in a municipal government setting is preferred. 
4. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered.

Planner II

1. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
2. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Studies, Geography or similar field of study.
3. A minimum of two (2) years of professional urban planning experience is required, preferably in a municipal government setting. 
4. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered.
