The City of Beloit has an employment opportunity in the Water Resources Division of the Department of Public Works and is currently accepting applications for the position of Equipment Operator- Water.
The Equipment Operator-Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the public water supply distribution and customer metering systems. This position also assists in maintenance of the water system pumping and booster stations, the water production and storage system, and general Water Resources facilities and grounds. They perform Digger’s Hotline locates for the water, sanitary, and storm water utilities and may work variable shifts. This position will be subject to a rotation on-call duty schedule for off-hours customer service, including a maximum average response time. Other duties may be assigned.
This position typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. and Fridays from 6:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
3. Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain such CDL within one year of hire
4. One year of responsible work experience in the area of construction or public/private utility work. Experience with public water systems is preferred.
5. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of these positions will also be considered.
