Recreation Aide

Part-time position responsible for performing duties related to the operations of the Recreation Center. Assist Parks, Recreation, and Facilities management in providing general assistance and support to recreational programs and daily activities. Greets patrons at front desks, answers phones, handles customer activity registration and membership sales, helps with event setup, assists other departments with special projects, and performs various general and routine administrative tasks in support of recreation programs.

POTENTIAL OPENING PRIOR TO SUMMER.
  • Greets Recreation Center patrons and assists to answer questions regarding the Recreation Center and the City of Bellaire
    1. Answers the phone and provides excellent customer service
    2. Set up and cleaning of rooms for recreational activities and rentals
    3. Issues equipment
    4. Handles payments and money according to procedures
    5. Maintains the facility for cleanliness and reports maintenance issues
  • Develops and implements programs, classes, and special events by monitoring class registration
    1. Registers participants for classes, aquatic programs
    2. Enters data into the computer system and on the website
    3. Provides class information to the Recreation Superintendent
    4. Handles credit card transactions, receiving cash, and counting correct change
    5. Provides tours of the Recreation Center
    6. Checks out gym and game equipment to guests
    7. Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks to include filing, organizing, inventory, etc.
  • Supports other areas of the Recreation Center by assisting with special events
  • Attends mandatory training and in-service meetings
  • Informs supervisor of all work-related activities
  • Enforces and adheres to the personnel, safety, and departmental policies and procedures of the City of Bellaire
  • Assists co-workers and other departments as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Minimum age of 16 years old
  • Experience or training in personal computer use with Microsoft Office software
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:
    • Criminal background check
    • Controlled substance screening
