SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, responsible for coordinating the City’s budgetary operations and performance measurement program, assisting in the preparation and presentation of the City’s annual budget. Monitors department expenditures, assists departments with budget issues and assists in the preparation of financial reports for directors, City Management, and the City Council.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervision of subordinates except in the absence of both Finance Director and the Accounting Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, accounting and/or finance plus five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred – Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or an ability to acquire within three years of accepting position. Municipal accounting or budgeting experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
