City of Bedford is Hiring a Public Service Officer Near Bedford, TX

Provide services to the community in a support role to law enforcement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Takes offense and incident reports that are not in progress, in accordance with Department policy and procedures, both in person and by phone.

2.Provides assistance to and interacts with the public daily.

3.Provides traffic control at crash scenes, fire calls, major crime scenes, and special events.

4.Collects abandoned property or evidence when appropriate.

5.Assists with crime prevention functions for the police department through visible patrols and through education of the public.

6.Conducts parking enforcement related to city ordinance violations.

7.Handles a variety of technical and administrative functions in support of the Police Department.

8.Performs all other assignments and handles special projects as required.

9.Regular and timely attendance is required as well as the ability to get along with others in a professional and cordial manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma / GED.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, state statute and law manuals, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and tasks while working independently with little supervision.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Must be at least18 years of age.

SPECIALIZED KSA'S

Ability to utilize computer software relevant to this position, i.e., email, timekeeping, and police dispatching/report writing software. Ability to obtain and maintain TCIC/NCIC access.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee will be required to operate a vehicle during hours of sunlight and darkness. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee will be required to wear body armor and meet qualification standards for carrying a less-lethal weapon.
