City of Bedford is Hiring a Cultural Arts Coordinator Near Bedford, TX

SUMMARY

The Cultural Arts Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Cultural Arts Supervisor in the development and execution of the City of Bedford’s public art program. Along with assisting in the implementation of department Special Events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the Cultural Arts Supervisor in the research, creation and implementation of departmental events and public art projects for the City.
  2. Assist in creating RFP/RFQ’s to solicit artists for various projects.
  3. Assist in creation and design of promotional materials for events, projects, and any other related needs for the Department.
  4. Assist with multiple aspects of exhibits and art installations, including communicating with artists and the public, and hanging/handling artwork.
  5. Work closely with artists, performers, and vendors for various projects and events.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Applied knowledge and understanding of public art and its role in the community.
  • Bachelor’s degree in studio art, arts management, arts education, or a related field and one years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Public art and its role in a community.
  • Special Event development and execution.

Skills in:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

  • Using data and research to inform public art works.

  • Conduct research using various methods.
  • Absorb and retain information quickly.
  • Present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Maintain keen attention to detail.
