The City of Battle Creek is looking to establish a firefighter eligibility list in accordance with the Civil Service Act. The employment process for establishing that list is as follows:
BCFD firefighters perform emergency response duties for the protection of life and property; participates in fire prevention activities; performs a variety of housekeeping, equipment, and apparatus maintenance chores; performs related work as apparent or assigned. Work performed under the supervision of the Fire Lieutenant or another designated official.
This position includes a 3 Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plans to select from, 2 vision plans through VSP, free dental though Delta Dental and life insurance, all of which are available on day one. Employees may contribute to a 457 Retirement Plan though MissionSquare, which has a 1:1 match up to 3%. Employees in this position are also required to contribute into the Police and Fire Pension program.
