The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MDOT MTA team.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking a Compliance Officer (DOT Executive Assistant I) in the Office of Equal Opportunity Compliance Programs (Baltimore City). The compliance areas for this position are in the Minority/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (MBE/DBE) Programs.
The incumbent will be responsible for representing the Office of Equal Opportunity at various meetings to discuss and introduce the requirements of and answer questions regarding the DBE, MBE, and VSBE programs and their respective contract goals. The selected candidate will also be responsible for composing summary reports of the status of DBE, MBE, and VSBE compliance activities and reviews, while maintaining records of each. Additional responsibilities will include inspections and investigations of suspicious activities, which may include researching the records of project managers, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
The MBE/DBE responsibilities for this position are to monitor contracts to ensure compliance in accordance with federal and state laws, Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) policies, regulations, practices, procedures, and Board of Public Works (BPW) Advisories. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring contracts for compliance with the State's Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) program, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, and Veteran-owned Small Business (VSBE) programs.
Compliance Officers will confirm financial information and report non-compliance that could jeopardize federal funding and good standing with the FTA. Thoroughness, accuracy, and meeting established timeframes are critical in preparing reports.
The current vacancy is located at the Maryland Department of Transportation, Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience ensuring compliance with equal opportunity programs or ensuring adherence to fair practice standards. *Two (2) years of the required experience must have been in monitoring MBE/DBE participation on contracts, as well as one (1) year of experience in accounting or finance that includes financial reporting or equivalent experience in procurement and/or /contract management activities*.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
* Experience interpreting and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, policies, and regulations
* Strong computer skills (i.e., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.)
* Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience monitoring contract M/DBE compliance
* Investigation skills in Equal Employment Opportunity matters
