GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs skilled duties in supplying and maintaining the proper treatment of water as required by County, State, and Federal regulations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the operator in charge and requires the use of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, reviews, and results obtained.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in operating control board and monitoring tank levels, distribution pressure, and flows; may oversee operators to ensure tank levels and system pressures are maintained at proper levels for water plants; ensure proper chemical process control at water plants.
• Collect samples and perform water tests and analyses to ensure production and quality standards are met; adjust treatment process as needed; calibrate test equipment; review test reports to determine adequacy of treatment; maintain records of testing; submit regulatory reports.
• Inspect parts, equipment, and machinery; locate and evaluate causes of equipment failure; perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Coordinate the repair and preventive maintenance procedures carried out on the equipment; exchange and connect chlorine cylinders and maintain related equipment; assist during regulatory inspections of facilities.
• Review and evaluate technical specifications for new control systems/alterations of existing ones for feasibility and technical adequacy; submit written recommendations to supervisor; assist in project planning; review design drawings and specifications.
• Administer, monitor, and evaluate Plant operations procedures and policies; implement revisions as necessary.
• Make budget recommendations on the needs for plants and lift stations.
• Maintain records of plant operations and equipment and prepare reports as required by various regulatory agencies.
• Communicate and submit orders to vendors and suppliers for water treatment plant chemicals, equipment, and parts.
• Handle complaints and inquiries from the public regarding water quality or distribution treatment issues.
• Contact other department personnel when assistance is required.
• Periodically on call 24 hours a day to respond to emergency calls (with on-call pay).
• Perform all other related duties as required.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience in water treatment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Licenses and/or Certificates:
“C” Water Operator License
Valid Florida Driver’s License

Pay: $22.75 - $29.00 per hour
