Under general supervision, monitors and operates the city's treatment processes and distribution system to ensure compliance with regulations and operational goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for monitoring the treatment and distribution system, and make adjustments to ensure compliance with regulations and operational goals including observation, analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes, laboratory analyses, enhancing databases, and developing and generating reports.
2. Operate and coordinate the operation of treatment and distribution systems utilizing plant computer systems, manual control systems and equipment, and work in a safe manner using all required safety equipment.
3. Responsible for understanding technical literature, water treatment practices and department practices and procedures.
4. Maintenance of instrument and mechanical systems by inspecting, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation, maintaining databases, and maintaining treatment optimization programs.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
5. Perform administrative duties such as work order management, planning and optimizing plant processes.
6. Perform maintenance of equipment and facilities including the ability to communicate the status of equipment and processes to others.
7. Complete purchase requisitions for chemicals and other materials and receive chemical shipments and other supplies.
8. Ability to assist in responses to customer requests and conduct special projects and studies for management as requested.
9. Ability to use the computerized maintenance management system.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Qualifying Education and Experience:
Two years (60 hours) of general college courses including Math, Science, Computer Science, or Engineering. One year operational experience in water treatment or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, Class C. Possession of a current grade "C" water certificate from TCEQ.
