City of Arlington is Hiring an Electrical Technician Near Arlington, TX

Under general supervision, performs corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance on the electrical components and instrumentation in the water and wastewater systems.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to perform corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance of the electrical components and instrumentation of water treatment, distribution, elevated tank and lift station equipment and facilities including complex, specialized and/or high voltage (4160) systems and equipment.
2. Ability to utilize PC and other computer software and equipment to install, maintain, calibrate, program, and repair plant supervisory, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) computers and components.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
3. Ability to communicate the status of equipment and processes to others.
4. Ability to use the computerized maintenance management system.
5. Ability to purchase and receive materials and other supplies.
6. Ability to respond to customer requests and conduct special projects and studies for management as requested.
7. Ability to serve on the Water Treatment Safety Committee.
8. Ability to perform general maintenance activities.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of theory, practices, tools and equipment used in electrical/instrumentation preventative maintenance
    and repairs.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and other rules and standards pertaining to electrical/instrumentation
    construction and maintenance of equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of water treatment and wastewater collection processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced math.
  • Knowledge of function and assembly of electrical/instrumentation equipment; safety procedures and equipment.
  • Skill in word processing, database, work management, PLC programming, SCADA programming, and spreadsheet software.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting drawings, electrical plans, ladder logic, and diagrams of electronic circuitry.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to PC, fax machine, radio, laboratory equipment, hand tools, plant process equipment, power tools, instrumentation, calculator, copier and pick-up truck.
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to carrying, climbing, dragging, driving, filing, holding, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds, pulling, pushing seeing, sitting, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping,
    typing, walking and writing.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to organize tasks.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical, mechanical and electrical hazards.

Qualifying Education and Experience:

  • High School and vocational/technical training including course work in computer science, electrical and instrument repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and National Electric Code and other rules and
    standards.
  • A minimum of one year's related experience in the electrical/instrumentation installation and repair field. Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, Class C
  • Possession of a current Journeyman Electrical License and completion of basic water and wastewater technical school training.

  • Motor Vehicle Review (MVR)

This position is Safety Sensitive. Safety Sensitive positions are subject to periodic Drug and/or Alcohol testing in accordance to the City of Arlington's Personnel Policies
