• Performs maintenance & functions in support of Federal MS4 storm water permit activities;
• Participates in the construction, repair and/or asphalt patching of streets, concrete and brick sidewalks, curbs, and gutter;
• Participates in the maintenance and repair and installation of fire hydrants; sewer pipe infrastructure and special projects assigned;
• Operates or assists in the operation of jack hammers and chain saws;
• Cleans hand and motorized tools and equipment. Clears debris from work area when the job is completed;
• Operates a snowplow with a salt spreader, also shovels snow when not operating heavy trucks. Loads trucks with de-icing materials during snow operations;
• Inspects, cleans, and maintains tools, equipment and vehicles;
• Cleans and maintains facilities and minor spills;
• Pre-trips CCTV inspection truck and any assisting vehicles to ensure fluids, mechanical and electronic equipment, and safety lights are in good working order;
• Ensures that all supplies and tools are on the vehicle and in good working condition for daily tasks. Adjusts equipment to ensure accurate reading is captured;
• Assists with inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the closed-circuit television equipment as well as any related inspection equipment. This includes the cleaning and replacement of broken, worn, or defective parts.
• Performs related work as required.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

The Laborer II position must have completion of high school or vocation school courses; ability to perform heavy manual labor in all types of weather; some knowledge of construction or maintenance activities and the equipment and tools of the trade; and one (1) year of experience in any trade; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

To be considered the ideal candidate, you must also possess two (2) years of experience as a semi-skilled worker, knowledge or sewer maintenance, fire hydrant maintenance, concrete work, laying sewer pipe, dredging, using tools and equipment related to sewer maintenance.
