GRC REGULATORY RISK GOVERNANCE ANALYST
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Within the Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) Office, the Regulatory Risk Governance team provides regualtory governance and advisory support across City National Bank (CNB) in the preparation for and participation in CNB's regulatory exams and ongoing supervision. In this role, the candidate will engage with business and function teams (across 1st and 2nd lines of defense) and relevant senior leadership to ensure effective coordination and delivery of, and ensure thorough and systematic preprations sessions for, all critical regulatory exams and meetings. Additionally, the candidate will play an integrative role for critical projects and remediations efforts that involve multiple businesses and/or functions, or that impact multiple key stakeholder groups.
Governance, Risk and Controls (GRC)
Be part of City National's U.S. Governance, Risk and Controls (GRC) Office. This group’s focus is on enhancing our risk management and regulatory compliance capabilities to ensure the bank is well-positioned for future opportunity and sustainable growth.
What you will do
- Facilitate the business and function teams’ preparation for regulatory examinations and ongoing supervision, including annual and targeted on-site examinations by regulators, with minimal supervision
- In partnership with US Regulatory Relations, support the business and function teams during the conducting of the exam, including managing and preparing responses to regulator requests, logging and categorizing issues, and preparing meeting presentations and materials
- Coordinate the timeliness and accuracy of responses to regulators, including data requests and responses to exam findings
- Work with US Regulatory Relations, GRC Issues Management & QA, and Internal Audit in identifying existing issues when preparing for an exam
- Contribute to internal reporting of metrics and data related to regulatory exam preparation
- Contribute to the best-practices “playbook” for regulatory exam preparation
- Coordinate with exam management teams covering other exams to identify cross-cutting regulatory themes and opportunities to enhance the bank’s overall effectiveness in exam management
- Coordinate with the other GRC teams (Regulatory Communications, Regulatory Issues Project Management, Issues Management & QA, and GRC Program Management) regarding remediations that result from regulatory examinations and ongoing supervision
- Help to identify, discuss, and address emerging regulatory trends that may impact business operations from a compliance perspective
- Provide advice on compliance and regulatory risk matters related to bank regulatory activities to businesses and functions, as required
- Maintain thorough knowledge of banking regulations, bank operations and procedures, risk management controls, and other internal control objectives and practices
- Provide critical analysis and input into the review process as required.
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in banking compliance, risk, regulatory or related bank regulatory experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of financial services industry experience, of which 5 years must include direct experience in risk management, internal audit or regulatory relations
Skills and Knowledge
- Previous experience working in regulatory relations, internal audit, QA or testing function within financial services, or for a US regulator, is highly desirable
- Understanding and proven ability to build relationship within the organization and manage heavy regulatory exam load
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with senior management and stakeholders, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the three lines of defense.
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and risk management in the financial services industry, including but not limited to Operational Risk (IT/Cybers, Operational Resiliency, Fraud, Third Party), Compliance Risk, BSA/AML/OFAC Risk, Credit Risk and Enterprise Risk.
- Project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with group’s processes.
- Understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type.
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and risk management in the financial services industry, including but not limited to Operational Risk (IT/Cybers, Operational Resiliency, Fraud, Third Party), BSA/AML/OFAC Risk, Credit Risk and Enterprise Risk.
- Exceptional ability to think ahead, solve problems, and to exercise solid judgement.

Compensation
Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
