City Experiences is Hiring a Director of Finance - Ferries and Transportation - NYC Ferry Near Brooklyn, NY

Salary Range $130,000 - $135,000

NYC Ferry operated by Hornblower is seeking a Director of Finance for our operation in Brooklyn.

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen and an analytical mindset, proficiency in Excel and navigating an enterprise accounting system. Significant accounting experience is essential for navigating the general ledger, investigate transactions to assess proper accounting treatment and preparing financial reporting. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about their work, a fast learner, and ready to make a significant impact.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts to ensure proper recording of transactions. Assess underlying trends to formulate budgets and forecasts.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts by working with managers to understand changes in departments needs. Develop cost metrics to improve predictability of expenses.
  • Assist the accounting team with the month-end closing process by analyzing the general ledger and financial statement reports and investigating variances. Prepare appropriate adjusting journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting with value-add insights and review with department managers to evaluate cost drivers and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Support business unit Controllers with planning and analysis. Provide key insights and develop/refine assumptions to improve accuracy of budgets and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Development to prepare multi-year business plans to support the long-term strategic business decisions of the organization.
  • Additional job duties assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
  • 10 or more years of accounting and finance experience in an operating company.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including extensive knowledge of enterprise accounting software, and proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to interpret complex accounting and financial concepts, recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, strong time management and organization skills.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with the ability to accomplish tasks both directly and through delegation and effective management of others.
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships within the company and be comfortable interacting at all levels of the organization.
