Job Description
Under general supervision, the Operating Engineer, Universal operates heavy construction equipment in conjunction with the maintenance and construction of roads, streets, and underground utilities and performs servicing on equipment.
The essential functions of the class are, but are not limited to :
Operate heavy construction equipment (i.e., asphalt paving machines, rollers, backhoes, loaders, cranes, motor graders, bulldozers, forklifts, excavator, hoisting equipment, and tractors).
Complete training classes and implement procedures in the daily operation of newly purchased and / or rental equipment.
Practice and implement CAL / OSHA and Airport’s general safety rules when operating equipment.
Complete necessary paperwork, including : Daily equipment inspection sheets
Survey grade stake markings
Log sheets for emergency generator monitoring
Read and interpret technical information in order to perform maintenance tasks, including greasing, cleaning, and the inspection of equipment.
