Under supervision, performs difficult and complex professional level installation and repair duties in a variety of functional areas, such as: the installation, calibration, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electronic equipment; various network operating systems such as servers, gateways and routers used in complex wireless and networked communications; related control system components; and performs related duties as required.
Essential Job Duties and Functions:
Work Location:
Incumbent will conduct the majority of work at various City Agencies throughout the City of San Francisco as well some remote CCSF facilities outside of the City and County of San Francisco. The incumbents primary reporting and dispatch location will be 200 Paul Ave., San Francisco, CA 94124.
Nature of Work:
Incumbent must be willing to work a 40-hour week as determined by the department. Travel within San Francisco may be required. Telecommuting options are available upon appointing officer’s approval.
Job Appointment Type:
Temporary Exempt (TEX) - Full Time (2 positions) are excluded by the Charter from the competitive civil service examination process. The successful candidate shall serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. This position has an anticipated duration of up to thirty-six (36) months.
Education:
Completion of high school, supplemented by at least two (2) years of electronics training at a junior college or recognized vocational institution or its equivalent, which may include military electronics training school.
Experience:
One (1) year of industrial electronics work, including fabrication, installation, calibration, maintenance, trouble-shooting and repair of electronics systems and equipment;
License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License
Desirable Qualifications:
NOTE:
1. MEDICAL TESTING: Prior to appointment, eligible candidates must successfully pass the medical testing process.

SECURITY CLEARANCES AND BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS: Positions in this classification may require that successful candidates who become eligible for appointment may be required to go through a background investigation to determine the candidate's suitability for employment in this classification. Factors considered in the investigation may include employment history, use of illegal/controlled substances. Reasons for rejection based on this investigation may include, but not limited to: applicable convictions, repeated or serious violations of the law, inability to accept supervision, inability to follow rules and regulations, falsification of application materials and/or other relevant factors. Failure to obtain and maintain security clearance may be basis for termination.

City employees will receive credit for the duties of the class to which they are appointed. Credit for experience obtained outside of the employee’s class will be allowed only if recorded in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Service Commission Rules. Experience claimed in self-employment must be supported by documents verifying income, earnings, business license and experience comparable to the minimum qualifications of the position. Copies of income tax papers or other documents listing occupations and total earnings must be submitted. Compensation: $50.8375 - $61.7750 (hourly) / $105,742 - $128,492 (annually)
