Position Information

"Join Us for a Vote-tastic Adventure: Assistant Elections Administrator Position Open"
The City and County of Honolulu's Office of the City Clerk is looking for an Assistant Elections Administrator to help assist with the overall election planning and managing of operations in the County Elections Division.
As an Assistant Elections Administrator, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Manages City election operations, and assists with formulating and revising operating policies, standards and procedures.
  • Determines proper administration and application of federal, state, and county election laws and regulations.
  • Manages the use of a centralized data processing (election management) system, and establishes procedures for the control, review, and audit of input-output data for interoperable election systems and applications.
  • Coordinates activities (with the State Office of Elections) regarding the formatting and printing of county ballots and electronic voting system interfaces.
  • Assists with planning and directing a public information program to disseminate election information via call center operations, traditional media, online media, workshops and seminars, and media interviews as may be necessary

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with major work in public or business administration, political science or a related field.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit. Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma and/or official transcript which shows the embossed seal or applicable FCE to your application. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four consecutive years of professional work experience involving the coordination, development, oversight or supervision of a program activity (e.g. voter registration, voting systems administration, ballot counting, election logistics, elections information/outreach, etc.) within a state or municipal election operation, including or supplemented by two years of administrative or supervisory work experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
