Citrus Community College is Hiring a Construction Management Instructor Near Glendora, CA

Position Title Construction Management Instructor (Full-time tenure track to begin instruction Fall 2023)
POSITION SUMMARY
This tenure-track Construction Management Instructor position is a 10-month (175 days) assignment, which includes a variety of courses, and may require the selected candidate to teach across programs. The assignment and schedule, as determined by the District, may consist of day, evening, and weekend hours including 12-hour shifts.
Classes are offered on a 16-week calendar (fall and spring semesters), as well as in a variety of non-traditional scheduling options: winter intersession, evenings, summer sessions, and optional class formats, such as online education courses.
This position is contingent upon funding and final Board approval.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
– Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, cultural background, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
– Possession of any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
OR
– Possession of a California Community College Life Credential in the appropriate discipline.
Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least five (5) years of work experience in construction management or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience in construction management, preferably at the community college level.
  • Online education experience – experience teaching both asynchronously and remotely in Zoom or MS Teams.
  • Demonstrated technology and applicable software skills.
  • Ability to teach the full range of Construction Management courses.
  • Current knowledge of sustainable construction technology skills.
  • Current knowledge of construction laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Earned master's degree from an accredited institution in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or other related fields, plus five (5) years of related professional construction management experience.
  • Membership and participation in professional industry associations within related discipline/CM, DBIA, PMP, LEED or similar accreditation.

Salary Range Salary to be determined by the candidate's proper placement on the current Faculty Salary Schedule, which is based on education and experience, and can be found at the Citrus College website. Maximum placement for newly hired instructor is Step 6.

ABOUT OUR CAREER TECHNICAL AND CONTINUING EDUCATION DIVISION
Our Career Technical and Continuing Education Division is comprised of twelve departments, as well as Continuing Education, Noncredit and Community Education. The departments offer various Career Technical Education (CTE) programs which prepare students for in-demand jobs and emerging careers in the regional economy through hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and work-based learning opportunities. We also offer multiple noncredit CTE programs, which are free for all students. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and versatile Construction Management Full-Time instructor to join our team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Maintain professional and ethical academic standards set by the program and the District.
– Provide class instruction in accordance with established course outlines and program expectations.
– Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
– Maintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and student records and submit them in accordance with published deadlines.
– Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations according to curriculum standards set by the District.
– Involve technology in the learning process when appropriate.
– Teach students with diverse backgrounds.
– Participate actively in staff development and professional growth programs.
– Participate in recruitment activities.
– Meet obligations with regard to grade reporting, scheduled classes, required office hours, and other directions provided by the Dean of Career, Technical and Continuing Education.
– Demonstrate active involvement in all aspects of program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Teach variety of construction management courses.
  • Provide class instruction for some day, evening and/or weekend courses.
  • Teach in accordance with college course outlines of record and instructional activities that promote and assess student learning, achievement and success.
  • Participate in college-wide shared governance committees.
  • Participate in update training to maintain level and currency of knowledge.
  • Work with and maintain effective relations with advisory committees and employers.
  • Carry a fair share of other duties (department and committee work, curriculum development, community outreach, etc.) necessary for the smooth functioning of the college, department and discipline.
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, staff and students.
  • Maintain formal office hours; participate in department and division meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
  • Perform other professional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in English, with a diverse population both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team.
  • Evidence of participating in the online education program.
  • Evidence of developing and assessing student learning outcomes.
  • Evidence of computer literacy and experience with standard computer software on Microsoft Windows platform (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas or similar).
  • Evidence of using and promoting technology-mediated instructional techniques.
  • Possess excellent organization skills.
  • Evidence of familiarity with software taught and/or used in the Construction Management courses.
  • Evidence of interest in working in the community college setting.
