Legal Programs Coordinator

The Legal Programs Coordinator partners with the client and assists them in navigating the legal system. They also bridge CADV with the law enforcement/legal system.

Responsibilities for the Legal Programs Coordinator include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Serve as the legal advocacy expert providing consultation to other team members regarding legal matters.

2. Direct assistance to victims in filing for, obtaining, and maintaining an Exparte Order of Protection.

3. Accompanying clients to all appropriate criminal and civil hearings including full Order of Protection hearings.

4. Direct client support through the legal system.

5. Assisting clients with Crime Victim’s Compensation procedures.

6. Assisting clients in utilizing the Missouri victim Automated Notification System.

7. Educating victims about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence as well as human trafficking.

8. Responding to calls from the Lake Area SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) as needed.

9. Documents all client contact when services are provided.

10. Documents all non-client related work activities in computer system.

11. Completes all paperwork in a timely manner.

12. Provides educational opportunities for staff regarding legal advocacy.

13. Provides community-based advocacy services for victims of domestic and sexual violence, as well as victims of human trafficking.

14. Develop and coordinate crime victim’s rights week activities for the organization.

15. Coordinate and lead projects from annual operations plans.

16. On occasion, assists with covering shifts (day and night) for emergency shelter.

17. Facilitates empowerment groups as part of a team.

18. Provides community awareness and community training activities.

19. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field or 3-5 years equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years extensive experience working with issues of domestic or sexual violence and human trafficking.
  • Clear a Family Care Safety Registry background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers—typing and/or writing. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling,or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Talk and hear.

STATUS:​ ​​​Full Time

DOL Status: Hourly

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
