The Chemical Treatment Lead should be considered the owner of the overall Chemical Application Work Process, to include chemical cleanings activities in preparation for turnarounds and outages and chemical injections to treat water and/or process streams. This position will initiate, develop, and implement all chemical cleaning jobs. The Chemical Treatment Lead will routinely monitor list of upcoming turnarounds in the refinery’s 5-year plan and work with the LCMC Turnaround Teams to ensure planning for Chemical Cleaning activities begins at the appropriate time in advance of planned unit outages. This position will also remain up to date with Process Engineering department’s plans for equipment and/or unit chemical cleaning activities outside of planned unit turnarounds or outages. The Chemical Treatment Lead is responsible for maximizing assurance of a safe and effective chemical cleaning by managing each step of the work process. Additional Job Duties
Coordinate and participate in the monthly chemical team meeting with in-house vendors to ensure treatment is in compliance with KPIs and on budget
Strive to optimize chemical applications and/or improve performance and coordinate efforts to monitor and optimize all chemical applications, either water-related or process-related
Network, research, and stay up to date on industry trends, technologies, and companies that should be considered for use at the LCMC to improve chemical cleaning performance
Routinely review lessons learned from chemical cleaning jobs and incorporate into best practice document to share with other CITGO refineries
Develop and maintain a database of historic chemical clean procedures, associated documents, and lessons learned reports
Associate or bachelor's degree (preferred) in related technical field plus five (5) years of job-related experience
Strong technical knowledge of chemical applications to improve profitability and reliability
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a team oriented environment
Valid driver's license
