Job Overview

Citadel’s Senior Check Processing Specialist oversees, monitors, and processes all check files for the organization, check fraud, GL Reconciliation, and completes all item processing responsibilities related to checks. They will serve as a subject matter expert maintaining an in-depth knowledge of Regulation CC, endorsements, Federal Reserve timelines, and applicable UCC guidelines related to check processing, check fraud, and adjustments.

Responsibilities

Administer all aspects of check processing; this includes but is not limited to processing all incoming and outgoing check files, review reports, and complete daily balancing.

·Electronic processing of Citadel in-clearing and transit (deposited) checks.

·Ensure all check funds are sent to and received by the Federal Reserve daily.

·Maintain in-depth knowledge of third-party vendor software systems utilized for research and processing.

·Liaison with internal resources and third-party vendors to resolve escalated software issues.

·Oversee the daily flow of work associated with the posting of all incoming deposits/payments via the US mail, as well as postings for various departments located in Corporate Headquarters.

·Works with check processing coordinators to resolve escalated check processing issues.

·Review and process all online Deluxe check order alerts.

·Verify all check copies are transmitted to digital storage on a timely basis.

·Maintain in-depth knowledge of and adheres to operational controls and timelines, including laws, rules, policies, and regulations related to check processing, check fraud, and adjustments such as the Federal Reserve Bank, Regulation CC, and Regulation UCC.

·Works closely with the Accounting Department to research and resolve complex differences, discrepancies, and errors.

·Complete complex check research requests and charge fees accordingly.

·Complete all incoming and outgoing Federal Reserve check adjustments, correct member accounts accordingly, and complete all tracking.

·Complete all bank-to-bank check adjustments including letters, calls to other financial institutions, supporting documentation and tracking.

·Oversee processing of all foreign checks received through the Federal Reserve and post funds and fees to member account when received.

·Oversee and maintain in-depth knowledge of General Ledgers associated with all check processing to ensure clean accounting.

·Ensure all daily tracking is complete and accurate. Complete all monthly reporting for check processing including but not limited to processing volumes and payment volume tracking logs.

·Process returned deposited items and check adjustments within the third-party processing system and core processing system.

·Maintain a working knowledge of the internal archive system.

·Oversee and ensure end of day balancing for all payments received in Corporate Headquarters.

·Ensure clean audits pertaining to check processing.

·Ensure manual payrolls are processed.

·Oversee and ensure all checks received from retail offices are secure and destroyed on rotating schedule.

·Oversee and ensure all mobile RDC, bRDC, CFS, and Remit Plus files are received and checks are repaired, posting files created, checks are ready for distribution to FRB and balanced daily.

·Ensure appropriate sections of the departmental procedure’s manual are current.

·Continuously review all check processes for enhancements and efficiencies.

·Utilize strong listening, communication and problem-solving skills while diplomatically handling and/or resolving complex and escalated issues.

·Acting as a subject matter expert, thoroughly train and mentor employees on all check processing processes and ensure their work is accurate.

·Complete system testing for upgrades to all check processing systems including but not limited to Centrix, Image Center, Remit Plus, Remit Central, Synergy, Synapsys and Symitar.

·Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum five years of check processing experience.

·Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.

·NCP: National Check Professional certification required (or ability to obtain).

·Subject matter expertise with Regulation CC, Regulation UCC, Federal Reserve Bank Rules and Regulations.

·Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as accomplish work assignments under minimal supervision and tight schedules.

·Proficient in Microsoft Office/Windows

·A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.Work is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
