Liaison Engineering Technician

Job Summary

The Liaison Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration between engineering teams and production/manufacturing departments. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of information, resolving technical issues, and providing support to ensure the successful implementation of engineering designs and changes in the manufacturing process.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Communication Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between engineering teams and production/manufacturing departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to ensure alignment on project objectives, requirements, and timelines.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to production/manufacturing teams, assisting with the interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions to ensure accurate implementation of designs and changes.
  • Change Management: Coordinate and manage the implementation of engineering changes and revisions, including reviewing change requests, assessing impact on production processes, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot technical issues or discrepancies that arise during the manufacturing process, collaborating with engineering teams to develop and implement solutions to resolve issues and minimize production delays.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to engineering designs, changes, and revisions, ensuring that all relevant information is properly recorded, archived, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the quality of manufactured products and components, conducting inspections and audits to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in collaboration with engineering and production teams, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production/manufacturing teams on new engineering designs, changes, or processes, ensuring that team members have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, procurement, and supply chain, to support project objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and protocols in the manufacturing environment, promoting a culture of safety and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field experience preferred.
  • 7 years of direct industry experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with exposure to engineering-related functions preferred.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical mindset, with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
