As a Software Tools Engineer, you will be part of the Cirrus Logic Platform Development Team in the Product Validation and Test organization. The Platform Development Team supports hardware/software infrastructure development for both the Validation Engineering and Product Test Engineering (PTE) organizations. Your focus will be developing software tools ranging from ATE Virtual Test and test pattern generation to bench Validation frameworks and hardware modeling. Most tools are primarily written in Python, but with opportunities to expand into other languages and technology stacks as well. While this is a software-based role, the software infrastructure ultimately drives many hardware pieces, so the ideal candidate will have a background in both software and hardware.
Responsibilities- Work with PTE and Validation engineers/managers to understand software tool requirements
- Work with DV test bench team to help bring up and support Virtual Test environment
- Contribute to the development of various software tools used by the PVT organization, primarily written in Python, but could also be required to develop in other languages such as C or C# (These could range between ATE support tools, Validation support tools, Hardware APIs, Instrument drivers, or SW deployment tools)
- Contribute to improving software development flows and CI/CD automation with Jenkins
- Support deployment and bring up of various tools ahead of project deadlines
- Support end users in response to issues and bugs
- Take end user feedback and document and enhance tool features
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5 - 7 years of experience or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3 - 5 years of experience
- Experience in a lab environment automating lab instruments, hardware controllers, or Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), specifically in Python
- Demonstrated aptitude in system understanding of various industry interface standards such as I2C, SPI, USB, I2S, TDM or high-speed control/data bus as examples
- Proficient electrical engineering knowledge in analog, digital and power electronics
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are highly valued as you will need to understand silicon, board, and software interactions
- Highly dynamic, energetic, and driven personality with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work across functional groups and organization
- Experience specifically in developing software infrastructure
- Experience with DevOps flows/technologies (Jenkins, Docker, etc.)
- Proficient with Git revision control and Atlassian BitBucket
