Within the philosophy and mission of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, the Director of Independent Living services is responsible for the day to day management of the independent living team and program. The Independent Living Director is also part of the Leadership Team, which supports compliance with all service delivery of fiscal, ethical and legal standards upheld by regulatory entities and the core values and mission of The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Social Work or a related field of study and five (5) years of related experience working with diverse, vulnerable populations; any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered in lieu of a

Master’s Degree.
QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong knowledge in the laws and regulations as related to the dependency system.
• Ability to provide evidenced based training, orientation, consultation and guidance to the Case Managers, and Residential Advisors
• Strong background in program and staff development.
• Demonstrated expertise in the following areas: adolescent development, trauma, and homelessness
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure and time sensitive environment.
• Demonstrated ability to use computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office software and various data management systems.
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work both individually and as part of a team in a fast paced, professional environment.
• Understands and adheres to HIPAA requirements relating to confidentiality and protection of client records.
• Sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics, particularly the homeless population.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• Adult Mental Health Targeted Case Management Supervisor certification
• Active License in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work (LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, manages, monitors, maintains the Independent Living and Career Development departmental budgets
• Manages expenditures and revenue generating activities related to programs/services to ensure resources are maximized and that all assigned programs are fiscally responsible
• Oversees clinical services and personnel in the Residential and Community settings, to include Targeted Case Management, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, routine Mental Health support, alumni support, and pre-independent living skill development and preparation
• Oversees all independent living processes to ensure continual compliance with DCF, COA, EAGLE, and other licensing, regulatory, or accrediting bodies
• Oversees all independent living services processes for performance quality improvement to meet/exceed industry best practice standards
• Prepares reports, proposals, policy, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Serves as a member of the President’s Leadership Team
• Provides leadership to professional staff
• Assumes on call responsibilities as scheduled and necessary
• Ensures compliance with FUMCH policies, procedures, and rules, and accreditation standards
• Stays current in the Independent Living laws and regulations through trainings, conferences, frequent visitation of relevant child welfare websites and coordination with other independent living professionals
• Forges strong working relationships with referring agencies and homeless shelters
• Ensures that Targeted Case Management activities are ongoing and documented

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has supervisory responsibilities for the Case Managers, Life Skills Coordinator, Residential Advisors, and Mental Health Therapists
