POSTION: RETAIL CLERK/ STOCKER

FLSA DESIGNATION: NON-EXEMPT

POSITION REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER

SALARY RATE: $19.00 PER HOUR

POSITION PURPOSE:

The retail clerk/stocker role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, while organizing and maintaining merchandise at Harry’s Table.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Greet customers and provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
  • Assist customers with inquiries, product selection, and locating items in the store.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate any stock shortages or replenishment needs to the manager.
  • Assist in receiving and unpacking merchandise shipments, checking for discrepancies, and ensuring items are tagged and displayed correctly.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, including replenishing merchandise, arranging displays, and ensuring shelves are stocked and priced correctly.
  • Restock shelves with merchandise as needed.
  • Keep track and record any waste.
  • Perform other tasks related to the department/ business as needed or asked by management.

OTHER:

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the organization. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Cipriani rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities. Employees who violate rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 6 months – 1 year of previous proven experience is a must.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and team members effectively.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a genuine desire to assist and satisfy customer needs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the store and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor.
  • Knowledge of retail trends and products to provide informed recommendations and assistance to customers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by the store's operating hours.
  • Ability to speak, understand Spanish or Italian is a plus.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by facility environmental systems.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the restaurant on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the property on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience Requirements: At least 6 months to 1 year of previous proven experience.

Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Company standards.
