Position Summary:

The Cinterra Construction Apprentice Instructor (RTI) is responsible for delivering both classroom and onsite instruction to participants in Cinterra’s Registered Apprenticeship Program. The role involves teaching essential courses like OSHA 10, First Aid, and CPR. The instructor will also use the NCCER curriculum to ensure apprentices fulfill their mandatory classroom hours. This position necessitates frequent travel to Cinterra job sites nationwide, including a mix of in-person and virtual teaching and proctoring activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive instruction in construction-related courses for Cinterra’s Registered Apprenticeship Program.
  • Utilize the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum to provide high-quality related technical instruction.
  • Plan and organize lessons, ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate and explain complex concepts, techniques, and processes to ensure apprentices grasp fundamental principles.
  • Administer / proctor quizzes and practical evaluations to measure apprentices' understanding and proficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of apprentice progress, attendance, and performance, adhering to program guidelines.
  • Instill a strong emphasis on safety protocols, regulations, and best practices within the trade.
  • Promote a culture of safety consciousness and ensure apprentices adhere to safety guidelines during hands-on training.
  • Participate in workshops and instructor training sessions to enhance instructional skills and subject matter expertise.
  • Work closely with Cinterra headquarters to ensure the apprenticeship program complies with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with Cinterra headquarters to keep the instruction up to date, incorporating any necessary changes or updates. 

Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching construction coursework in an educational or training setting.
  • At least 5 years experience in a field assignment or construction field,
  • Journeyworker level of construction industry expertise. 
  • Licensed at one point in time as an Electrician, Wireperson, Equipment Operator, or Line Maintainer.
  • OSHA 510
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various locations across the United States to deliver instruction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide strong leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid US Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the NCCER curriculum.
  • NCCER ICTP certification.
  • OSHA 500.
  • Associates degree in related field of study.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Preferred candidates with expertise in electrical, utility work, equipment operation, and/or general labor.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

This job often operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
