    until filled GIRLS VARSITY HEAD WRESTLING COACH/GIRLS WRESTLING PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
    Performance Responsibilities:
    • Oversee the entire Girls Wrestling Program.
    • Inspire, develop, train, supervise, and guide student-athletes to wrestle.
    • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
    • Be committed to building an in-season and off-season competitive Girls Wrestling Program.
    • Build relationships with and have a willingness to coach both beginners and advanced student-athletes.
    • Instruct student-athletes on fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
    • Instruct/guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
    • Cooperate with School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department, in a timely manner, in regard to pertinent information that might be required periodically.
    • Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certification and ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
    • Check the academic eligibility status for all prospective student-athletes.
    • Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
    • Set a positive example and be dressed appropriately at all times.
    • Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
    • Follow Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
    • Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA.
    • Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State-sponsored Tournaments.
    • Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
    • Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
    • Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
    • Participate in School Event's (i.e., Awards Night Programs, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings), etc.
    • Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and use good judgment in decision-making.
    • Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
    • Be competent in techniques of the sport and student-athletes respond positively to directions given.
    • Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
    • Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
    • Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
    • Ensure that team is well prepared for opponent(s).
    • Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each student-athlete.
    • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
    Skills/Essential Functions:
    • Fundraising experience.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire others.
    • Ability to serve as a positive role model.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of skills associated with this sport.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    Trainings/Certifications:
    • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate desired..
    • Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is desired.
    • Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupils Activity Permit. Provide completion of the Coaches Tool Chest Training/ Certification.
    CONTRACT PROVISIONS:
