Cincinnati Family Magazine is Hiring an Associate Editor Near Cincinnati, OH

We are seeking an Associate Editor to fulfill an entry-level professional position in the publishing industry. In this position, the Associate Editor will assist with editing features and other forms of written content before publication. The Associate Editor supports the publication process by engaging with writers, production personnel, and photographers.

The Associate Editor will also collaborate with commissioning editors, including ensuring the publication has the appropriate authorization to use content and materials from other publications. Administrative tasks may also be required in this position, including filing, photocopying, emailing, or answering phone enquiries.

Associate Editor Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Managing Editor with tasks related to the publication.
  • Checking the content, spelling, style, and grammar of submitted work.
  • Performing research and fact-checking on topics for the company.
  • Providing guidance to other staff members on writing conventions and style.
  • Collaborating with designers, writers, and photographers.
  • Performing editing and proofing on submitted articles.
  • Filing and archiving submissions and scripts, and writing pieces for the company.
  • Attending weekly events in the community.
  • Managing 10 Ambassador families.
  • Managing and curating content for all social media platforms.

Associate Editor Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in English literature, mass communications, creative writing, or copywriting.
  • A minimum of 2 years of writing or editing experience.
  • Experience using Adobe programs.
  • Adept at long-form and short-form writing.
  • Excellent grasp of grammar and spelling.
  • Proven research and fact-checking skills.
  • Proactive and energetic disposition.
  • A keen eye for detail and quality writing.
  • Organized and meticulous about their work.
  • A desire to learn about the publishing industry.
