The Kidney Transplant Program at Cincinnati Children’s strives to optimize the quality of life of children suffering from kidney diseases. Our goal is to assist the patient in understanding the care and issues surrounding kidney disease and the steps involved in kidney transplantation.

Our staff believes the best results occur when families work together with the healthcare team. Understanding the patient's condition and treatment options is an important first step.

In cooperation with surgical subspecialists, the Nephrology and Hypertension Division at Cincinnati Children’s is deeply committed to a comprehensive post-transplant patient care program. The program started in 1965.

Kidney transplant evaluations take place at our Burnet Campus. Follow-up visits are available at our Burnet Campus, Liberty Campus and our Mason Campus.

Our nurses at Cincinnati Children’s work from dawn to dusk and through the starlit hours to deliver the best possible patient care. When parents bring their children through our doors their focus is on one thing – the best outcome for their kids. The nurses at Cincinnati Children’s help them reach the goal with dignity, respect, and lots of smiles. Such quality care is why we were designated a Magnet institution back in 2009. It is an honor to be recognized for our excellence in nursing; it sets the bar higher for what we need to continually achieve." - Barb Tofani, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President of Patient Services
