Description

Position Overview:

You will function as an Instrument & Control Engineer (I&C) for O&G Production and Environmental Control Equipment quoting, designing, and manufacturing. As an engineer, you will be responsible for engineering and design of instrument & control systems for the processing equipment packages. Work is both technical and hands on in nature and relies on experience and independent judgment to perform the functions of the job. Other responsibilities include reviewing customer specifications and clarifying the scope of work for projects. Reviews and analyzes documentation, materials, and calculations, to ensure compliance with customer, product, safety, quality, and industry standards and requirements. Set engineering standards and direction focused on continuous improvement, increased efficiency, and cost reduction.

Your daily job functions will be:

  • Supporting applications / sales team for control design and specifications.
  • Working in close collaboration with engineering and contract management.
  • Owning the technical analysis of customer inquiries, control RFQs, or tenders, to determine proposal requirements, and scope of supply.
  • Communicating directly with internal and external customers, evaluating on-site project conditions during tendering phase.
  • Taking part in commercial quotation activities include the development of technical descriptions, cost estimates, project schedules & commercial terms.
  • Using your sound judgment and your ability to conceptualize alternative solutions to support problem solving initiatives.
  • Working in conjunction with Project Managers/Project Engineers to ensure that project scope of work for equipment package control system design are clearly defined for the project.
  • Finalizing control system architecture for the equipment package and selecting control system hardware based on customer specification and project requirement.
  • Reviewing customer specifications and preparing technical specifications defining the control requirements on the project for third party control system Design/Manufacturing Company. Reviews and manages deliverables of the control system to ensure adherence to the requirements of the project.
  • Understanding hazardous area classification requirements to finalize, design and layout of the electrical/control instrumentation on a package.
  • Sizing instrument cables, junction boxes, conduit, cable trays and layout of instrument/electrical on the package within the guidelines of Oil & Gas industry codes and standards.
  • Preparing controls schematic, cable schedule, wiring diagrams and logic diagrams.
  • Designing, developing, and debugging PLC based programs and electrical control systems.
  • Participating in HAZOP/HAZID, LOPA, SIL Analysis, etc. as required by projects.
  • Providing engineering support to procurement for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Providing support to manufacturing during assembly of the package, inspection, calibration, loop checking, and factory acceptance test (FAT).
  • Providing start-up assistance during commissioning of equipment packages at site.
  • Developing operating procedures, acceptance test and validation test plans and protocols.
  • Supporting applications engineering on technical issues related to preparation of proposals.
  • Working on equipment packages with all levels of complexity for ONSHORE applications with minimum support.
  • Developing engineering design tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of work.
  • Identifying and executing product standardization opportunities while participating in new product development programs.

Qualifications


We need for you to possess the following basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic/Control Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • 5 to 10 years Instrument & Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of instrument & controls system design and its application for Oil & Gas process equipment packages.
  • Experience in programming PLCs, HMI, sequence logic design, PID loop design and implementation.
  • Technical skills to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&IDs).
  • Demonstrates a broad knowledge of industry standards (API, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.).

We prefer that you have the following qualifications:

  • Working experience with Burner Management System (BMS)
  • Timely problem-solving skills, proven ability to work within a team environment with the ability to lead a project and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Advanced PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet usage required. CAD skills (AutoCAD) preferred.
