CIM GROUP is Hiring an Analyst, Renewable Asset Management Near Los Angeles, CA

The Analyst - Renewable Asset Management manages contract compliance, reporting and analysis while maximizing renewable energy projects performance. Will assist the Managers and Directors of Renewable Energy Operations with day-to-day management duties including but not limited to development support; investment diligence; operational management and planning; reporting and compliance; and site inspections to renewable energy, energy storage and transmission infrastructure assets. This position supports the Managers and Directors of the Renewable Energy Asset Operation team by preparing reporting, invoicing, and other documents for review.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Revenue –Ensure project meter data is managed and submitted in accordance with metering plans and protocols. Prepare monthly invoicing for review and complete renewable energy credit transfers to off-takers and customers based on energy, capacity and renewable products generated. Follow-up to ensure payment is received and reconcile differences.
  • Reporting – Prepare monthly and annual operational reporting to management, investors, lenders, and other project stakeholders, working under the direction of the Renewable Energy Operations team.
  • Energy Management Activities –Analyze PPA and Merchant Settlements
  • Business Plan Execution – Track actual expenses vs. forecasted and budgeted amounts. Investigate the cause of any budgeting variances. Enter budgets into Yardi and look for potential areas of improvement.
  • Asset Monitoring – Proactively identify issues on the projects. Review supplier invoices and ensure accuracy, looking for potential savings.
  • Software – Maintain key software packages including QBI, Yardi, Sharepoint, etc
  • Contract Administration – Mange contract compliance with various contractors, operators, consultants, and vendors. Manage and track any claims, notices, and warranty events through resolution.
  • Proactive Problem Solving – Exhibit a creative and innovative approach to solving problems and resolving issues. Proactively seek opportunities to improve operational and financial performance of the asset.
  • Finance Administration – Review financial statements, prepare DSCR calculations, quarterly compliance certificates, average realized price calculations and other metrics
  • Operations – Participate in discussions on Operational issues and track progress by the O&M Contractor.
  • Compliance – Maintain schedules for deliverables, compliance, notice, and reporting activities required for project operations, tracking and preparing submittals.
  • Manage project documentation including but not limited to project files, notices, reports, work orders, invoices, regulatory documentation, etc.
  • Exhibit passion and commitment to their own personal and professional development as well as that of their colleagues
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with quantitative focus or a technical subject such as engineering, environmental science, et cetera.
  • At least one (1) year of prior work experience in a field related to renewable energy, energy storage, electrical infrastructure and/or asset management. Experience managing California located utility-scale solar and solar storage projects preferred.
  • Understanding of accounting and finance concepts
  • Experience in financial reporting
  • Demonstrated experience mastering new software platforms, experience in platforms such as Yardi, Trimark Vantage, QBI or other database tools a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • COMMUNICATION SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High level of communication, organizational, and management skills. This is a team focused role and must be able to work well with other members of the Renewable Asset Operations team.
  • Ability to read legal documents and financial statements, communicating with attorneys and accounting team as needed.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to grasp basic math skills.
  • Understand and apply advanced industry-specific computations and analyses.
  • Understand and apply performance-related and asset related financial analyses.
  • Understanding of financial statements.
  • Ability to create and utilize intermediate level excel formulas.
  •  TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Yardi, Nexus and/or other ERP software systems is a plus
  • Proficiency in advanced data analytics tools such as PowerBi or Tableau is a plus
  • Understanding of basic concepts in data base management such as Azure, SQL, et cetera is a plus
  • Being able to quickly master new software packages is a must.

  • Correct and timely preparation of invoicing, reporting, and other deliverables
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proven ability to work independently as a leader and as a team member.
  • Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Must be able to cope with shifting priorities, difficult situations, and deadlines.

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required.
The role is considered non-exempt so will be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state law. At CIM, this role has the potential to receive a discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The anticipated base pay range for the position in Los Angeles is $36- $43 per hour.
