ABOUT OUR CITY

Murfreesboro is just miles SE of Nashville and home to Middle Tennessee State University, the largest undergraduate university in the state.

With over , students at MTSU, and with , public and private school students within 4 miles of our church, our church is primed for growth for years to come.

We view the local schools and the MTSU campus as a prime venue for reaching the lost and developing dozens of future worship leaders to serve around our state and the world.

The Boro is also one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. Ranked by Money magazine as one of the top Best places to live in the US , our city has grown from just under , residents to over , residents in the last twenty years.

Over that same time period, more than a thousand housing units have been built within four miles of our church and Murfreesboro is expected to continue that type of growth over the next decade.

By 0, Murfreesboro is projected to grow past Knoxville and Chattanooga as the 3rd largest city in TN.

There are 4 high schools and 5 middle schools with a combined 6th-th grade population of 0 within 2.5 miles of our campus.

We have several students from these schools in our ministry and the potential to reach many, many more.

ABOUT OUR ONE CHURCH FAMILY

One Church (OC) was planted as Calvary Baptist Church just years ago and now rests on acres of property in the center of the growth of Murfreesboro.

Since calling our senior pastor in 0, we have experienced significant growth in both attendance and giving. According to Thom Rainer’s national research, OC is one of the

Our growth has also necessitated several building and parking upgrades / expansions at our Calvary Campus. Part of that expansion is a student center that opened last fall and can host over students for our weekly meetings.

This student pastor position will be serving at the ONE CHURCH - CALVARY campus (average attendance 0 people) on the north side of town.

In spite of the increase in attendance, we are INTENTIONAL about "keeping it small" when it comes to discipleship. We have more than young adult and parent volunteers (FRONTLINE) that make interpersonal relationships a priority.

This multi-generational emphasis is reflective of our overall philosophy of keeping a family feel, with no desire to become a "mega" church of over 0 people at a singular campus.

As such, we have already hired a campus planter who is equipping a team from our current campus to launch a new ONE CHURCH - Barfield congregation on the opposite side of town.

Lord willing, we will plant several other congregations in the years to come. Each congregation will remain a part of the ONE CHURCH network under the leadership of our senior pastor, but each also having a local LEAD / TEACHING PASTOR at each campus.

After the Minister of Students & Families has established the foundation of his own ministry at our original ONE CHURCH - CALVARY campus, he will also work to assist equipping those who can minister at future campuses.

ABOUT THE MINISTRY POSITION

The MS&F is responsible for working with OC staff to design and facilitate a student and family ministry that is part of OC’s overall mission to reach the world for Jesus Christ.

The incumbent must embrace OC’s leadership development culture, mission, and vision at all times. At OC, we don’t just hire people who do ministry, we hire people who develop ministers .

At OC, our biggest win is when we are seeing the people we have trained become excellent at what God has gifted them to do AND then watching them train someone else to do the same!!! The incumbent will work to recruit and develop leaders and creative teams to ensure our people are making disciples who make disciples.

To this end the MS&F Will :

• Support the culture, mission, vision of OC
• Create and maintain a culturally relevant ministry strategy of outreach and discipleship to adolescents and their parents within the area of OC.
• Schedule applicable ministries on Wednesday evening and other appropriate times. The incumbent will also schedule other activities outside the OC complex, such as, retreats, mission trips, etc.
• Highly emphasize the development of his student-led leadership team
• Lead or supervise adult volunteer FRONTLINE members and any Student Ministry Intern(s).
• Oversee the organization, direction, development, and evaluation of the ministry for all youth from grade 6 through .
• Within the scope of the OC vision and in coordination with the schools and existing Christian organizations such as Young Life and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the incumbent will visit the local school campuses to mentor and counsel the youth as deemed appropriate.

The incumbent will be available for speaking / ministry engagements at school events when the opportunities arise.

• In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, Teach an adult academy class twice a yearRecruit, train, and equip individuals who will be sent out from the Calvary congregation to begin newly formed congregational plantsAssist the Senior Pastor in his efforts to provide vision, organization, and goals for the overall OC network.
• Participate in training of ministry leaders / volunteers
• Oversee any other staff assigned to his ministry
• Develop disciple-makers who will reach Rutherford County
• Provide pastoral leadership and care for his flock
• Work closely with the Director of Connect Groups to develop the overall discipleship ministries of OC
• Coach and shepherd Team Directors / Coaches / Leaders in a way that organizes the ministry teams that will result in a culture that develops leaders with the OC leadership philosophy
• Oversee budget and expenditures for the student ministries
• Identify, recruit, develop, and send called and gifted students into full-time vocational ministry
• Ensure his family is an integral part of our overall #OneChurchFamily

The MS&F will focus on reaching and developing his area of ministry but will work within the overall framework of the church.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary is $,-$, depending on education and experience. Health insurance stipend available (we currently have a group plan with BlueCross).

After one year of employment, a retirement plan is offered. 3 weeks paid vacation PLUS the week AFTER Christmas.

A seminary degree and experience leading a student ministry of at least students is a major plus but not required. As with every other full-time position in the church, about % of what you do is focused on your particular area of ministry, but % will be focused on overall church health.
