Job Description Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry

General Duties : The Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry oversees all youth programming and serves as the primary teacher for Youth Group gatherings.

A successful candidate will prioritize developing and nurturing healthy relationships within the church and school family, and surrounding community.

Areas of Responsibility

• Maintain an inviting Youth Group environment for students of all life experiences
• Oversee and coordinate all Youth Ministry volunteer leaders, ensuring each leader is ministering effectively and fulfilled in their calling to work with the youth of Lakewood Park
• Coordinate the planning and implementation of all special youth events
• Manage the Youth Ministry budget
• Partner wisely with local, like minded para-church ministries
• Cooperate and contribute in the development of a scope and sequence curriculum for discipling our children from birth to age
• Supervise Children’s Ministry Director
• Support the Senior Pastor in shepherding, leading, and preaching

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in a Bible, Youth Ministry, or related major preferred
• Committed to exegetical teaching of the Bible
• 2-3 years of Youth Ministry experience preferred
• Knowledge and use of current technology and social media platforms is expected
• Music talent and ability is a plus

Personal Qualifications

• Shows evidence of a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Attends Lakewood Park Baptist Church
• Meets the qualifications of an Elder / Pastor as outlined in I Timothy 3 : 1-7 and Titus 1 : 5-9
• Shepherds youth and their families according to II Timothy 2 : -, Ephesians 4 : , and I Peter 5 : 1-
• Understands and protects the confidential nature of the information entrusted to him
• Values life-long learning and has a teachable spirit
• Works well both independently and in a team environment

Physical Qualifications

• Able to climb stairs, stand, sit, walk, kneel, bend, push, pull, and reach a chalkboard height
• Can lift, lower, or carry up to twenty pounds
• Tolerates occasional interruptions, noise, high stress, and outdoor duty in temperatures that may exceed degrees fahrenheit or be lower than degrees fahrenheit
• Able to operate a copier, telephone, computer, printer, calculator, and AV equipment
• Has manual dexterity, eye / hand coordination, and visual acuity (both near and far)
• Can speak and hear clearly and communicate data

Supervision and Evaluation

The Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry is supervised and evaluated by the Senior Pastor.

Commitment Required

This is a full time, year-round, exempt position, working a schedule set by the Senior Pastor.
