Position:
Facilities Maintenance Worker
Purpose:
Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for support to the Facilities Team as the team supports the organization by providing excellent and functional properties
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Performs a variety of maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, cement work, carpet and tile laying, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining and improving the buildings so they are safe and comfortable
Possess a strong ability to follow instructions and learn skills from others in department
Ability to work with office moves
Ability to identify general upkeep and maintenance needs and communicate them to supervisors
Helping to make sure that the building meets health and safety standards
Assists the Facilities Manager and Facilities Worker III with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner
Arranges furniture and equipment for purposes of providing adequate preparations for meetings and special events
Performs minor, job related, maintenance on custodial and maintenance equipment (e.g. change vacuum cleaner belts, bags, change cords, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items
Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring they are available and in a safe operating condition
Prepares facilities for daily operations for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and hazard free
Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution
As needed, provide general care and cleaning of facilities such as vacuuming carpeted floors, mopping hard surface floors, and dusting
Removal of trash as needed
Competency/Knowledge Requirements
Responds positively and promptly to facility maintenance needs given by supervisor or staff members
Ability to prioritize facility needs versus wants as multiple tasks are submitted
Works effectively with other team members
Conducts all work in accordance with company procedures, including safety, locking the doors as instructed, and time & attendance
Operates and maintain facilities equipment such as vehicles, golf carts, and man lifts
Reports building and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor
Able to perform assigned tasks on a timely and consistent basis
Qualifications
Must have ability to work independently and as a team member
Must be willing and able to work in damp, dusty and soiled areas and clean up human waste and other body fluids as necessary
Able to work a fluctuating schedule that includes nights and weekends
Self-motivated
Responsible, dependable, and reliable
Able to stay focused in a multitasking environment while maintaining deadlines
Must be able to complete essential duties to the satisfaction of the supervisor
Ability to comprehend simple instructions, communicates effectively, and reiterates information to other employees of the organization

Physical Demand Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, including but not limited to lifting and carrying equipment
Physically able to be on your feet during an entire shift; walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and crouching
Professional/Work Experience Required:
Must have some prior experience in custodial or maintenance work
Must have the ability to learn new skills through on the job and formal training
Education and work history must demonstrate work ethic and responsibility
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent GED certification required
