Job Overview

The incumbent performs operation and maintenance of the power plant. The Power Production Technician Lead will direct the work of other technicians and coordinate projects/assignments as needed. Assists supervisor in regular or unique situations and problems. Identifies and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Guides, supports and directs the work of other Power Production Technicians.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, operates, maintains, repairs, replaces, and modifies RPIE and EAID generators, automatic transfer switches, and associated components in accordance with AFMAN 32-1062, Electrical Systems, Power Plants, and Generators.
  • Positions and monitors EAID generators as necessary to provide emergency power for critical repairs and hurricane preparedness.
  • Informs the Manager of inoperative systems.
  • Provides system operations training to facility mangers for assigned RPIE generators.
  • Maintains and updates generator priority list in the Base Civil Engineer Contingency Response Plan.
  • Maintains work schedules and upholds work standards.
  • Checks daily logs to determine proper operation of equipment.
  • Requisitions supplies, materials, and repair parts.
  • Prepares daily, monthly, and annual reports of power plan operation, power usage, and costs.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
  • Maintains proficiency in all areas of operations and maintenance of the power plant.
  • Keeps site and project management appraised of unique situations and problems.
  • Monitors and evaluates program and organizational performance in order to assess efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a maintenance program for power plant operations and maintenance.
  • Secret Security clearance.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
  • Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
