Job Overview

Performs general carpentry and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities and structures. Keeps Lead and Supervisor appraised of unique situations and problems encountered. This position has been designated for Mission Critical Work. If called or re-called to work during times when Mission Critical Work must be performed, employee must respond to duties assigned; work hours are subject to change, with weekend work or overtime work as needed.

This is a union position.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Performs maintenance and repair work such as foundations, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of siding and floor covering, sub floors, structural members, roofs, catwalks, and all other building components as necessary.
  • Maintains, repairs, and replaces doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, floor covering, etc.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work and consistent to the trade.
  • Installs panic hardware and other locking devices.
  • Builds forms.
  • Paints trim, wood, decks, walls, etc.
  • Selects the necessary materials for the work.
  • Assists other trades and crafts in their day-to-day operations.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
  • Performs occasional painting or touching up of structures or equipment.
  • Replaces broken windows.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
  • Responds to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Supports the project Safety Plan though personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years' experience as a journeyman carpenter.
  • Secret Security clearance.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the carpentry trade.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints.
  • General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
  • Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
