Christopher’s Reason is Hiring an Addiction Counselor (FT) Near Staten Island, NY

Christopher’s Reason an 822 outpatient clinic, is seeking a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate who is professional and passionate about helping those we serve. We are looking to hire a counselor who is independent and self-motivated with familiarity and experience in the field of addiction. Please provide certificates and references along with your resume. Only credentialed counselors, (bilingual in Spanish a plus) will be considered for this position. The salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the needs of clients seeking addiction counseling
  • Manage a caseload of individuals and complete required documentation
  • Provide counseling and therapy sessions to individuals and groups using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Weekly groups planned, delivered, and documented in a timely and effective manner meeting the client's person-centered goals for treatment
  • Holds and maintains required certification(s) and completes required continuing education
  • Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to manage cravings, triggers, and relapse prevention.
  • Attend weekly case conferences and supervision
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and appropriate documentation
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current/Valid CASAC, Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor
  • Current/Valid CASAC-T, Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee
  • Bilingual (Spanish a plus)
  • Well-versed in substance use disorder
  • Maintain excellent punctuality and dependability skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills verbal and written
  • Certification or licensure as an Addiction Counselor Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Experience working with individuals with substance abuse disorders
  • Knowledge of coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 for accurate data collection and reporting
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to counseling.
